ORIGIN OF BASKETBALL

Today in class we learned about The origin of basketball:

The game of basketball as we know it today was created by Dr. James Naismith in December 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts to condition young athletes during cold months. It consisted of peach baskets and a soccer style ball. He published 13 rules for the new game.

I have heard many arguments among spectators, family members, analysts, and colleagues about who is the best basketball player of all time?  Ask your family and friends about their thoughts. Form your own opinion (if you don't already have one) about which player you think is the best and why?

  1. I don't ever watch basketball but from what both my parents and grandparents tell me, Michael Jordon is the best basketball player of all time!

  2. I think it's interesting how common peach baskets were during this time considering how they aren't common today.

  4. Lebron James is the best basketball player of all time. He is the best because he is the best all around. He has skills all over the court such as great shooter, three point shooter, can rebound, pass and assist. Also, the talent Lebron has around him proves that he is the playmaker!

  5. Michael Jordan is easily the best basketball player to ever play. He's the best because of his effort, one. The flu-game is one of the most talked about NBA games ever. Despite the fact that he was sick with flu, he still played for his team, Chicago Bulls, and still had outstanding percentages. Not only his effort on the court, but his effort off the court. Also he's lead his team to a three peat, something not common in the NBA. He was also a team player, he didn't play for himself, he played for the team.

  7. I don't watch basketball but I'm from Cleveland so GO CAVS and GO LEBRON!
My boyfriend says that if we are talking pound for pound the best basketball player ever is Steve Nash because "He could do it all and made everyone on his team better. All these other players need their size and their height do the things they do but he was just so skilled he could beat everyone regardless. He would let it fly from deep or throw a sick dime like 10 times a game." Don't even get him started on how he could dribble through and around everyone.
