FITNESS FOR LIFE

Arbor View Physical Education classes are excited about the upcoming school year. We are learning how important it is to stay fit for life.

Olaf understands the importance of being in shape and  realizes he needs to improve.

Within our class, we are taking a snapshot of our current health and habits.
Share with the class your thoughts on where your strengths and weaknesses lie regarding your health.

  1. I would say that my weakness that has to do with my health is not thinking about the things that I eat. I may eat too much candy while at school and hanging out with friends. My strength would be that I play soccer so that keeps me active.

  4. My weakness would be eating junk food. When I tell myself to start eating healthy I end up not sticking with it. However, my strength would be walking my dogs everyday!

    1. I'm seeing the trend with the youth today as they eat chips and junk food at lunch everyday. How can we break this trend?

  6. I feel that my strength is keeping a healthy lifestyle. I like to keep active and do something active everyday whether it be walking my dog, jogging to the park or weight lifting. On days when I am tired a do something indoors such as yoga. I feel my weakness is eating pizza and frozen yogurt; my favorite foods. Although even with my diet I try to keep a balance.

    1. I feel balance is the key to having a healthy lifestyle. Keep working hard and you will have success and reach your goals.

  7. My strength would be constantly trying to push myself to ignore what everyone else is doing by focusing on myself and actually participating. I know that most gym classes have people that don't participate at all or even try, and watching your peers walk when they're supposed to run can have an effect on you, but it's up to you to use the time given to correctly work on your body. My weakness would be given up too quickly, if I run one lap for example, I'll probably stop even if I know I can run half of another. MH

    1. You are correct about physical fitness classes. Students are only going to do what they absolutely have to do. I appreciate your outlook on class. Set some goals for yourself and it will help you throughout your life.

  8. A weakness for me would be that I'm not particularly athletic. Id honestly rather lie down and read a book. Some sports I like: badminton and yoga are good. I make up for my lack of talent by walking to and from school every day. Sedona Greninger P.3

  10. My strength is that I am aware of the food that I put in my body and try to make good decisions all the time. My weakness is that it's easy to stay relaxed at home rather than going to work out at the gym.

    1. You brought up a good point... "It is easier to just relax". How can we break the trend of this generation?
How can we motivate our friends and family to stay fit for life?
